Why is it important to post a photo of your studio?
On Artmajeur, each artist profile has its own presentation section including a biography, which must be enriched with a beautiful photo of you working in your studio. This is important for the following reasons:
- Seeing how and where you work allows the public to get closer to you, your work and, above all, your creative universe, generating an emotional connection aimed at developing a greater interest in your artistic activity;
Descriptions of painting techniques are not always clear to everyone. Therefore, a photo of you painting will certainly make your text much more accessible and intuitive;
Human curiosity is insatiable, allowing your audience to know more about you will allow them to know you better, thus promoting the desire to own one of your works;
- It is well known that pictures speak more than a thousand words. Therefore, the enhancement of your work must necessarily also go through the photos, which have the "super power" of being able to communicate immediately;
- Have you ever seen a CV without a photo? Your profile without your photo will be just as "incomplete"!
- By publishing your photo, you will also be part of the highest artistic tradition, since great masters such as Picasso, Dali and De Chirico have had themselves immortalized in their studio.
How to take a good photo?
To take a good photo, you must observe a few simple tips, which will considerably improve the result of your photos:
- Have at least a fairly recent camera or a state-of-the-art phone capable of taking good quality photos;
- The light for the photograph must be uniform and not too strong, in order to avoid too marked contrasts, poorly visible details and shadows on the face. In addition, it is advisable to take pictures in the early morning or late afternoon, since the light is less intense and allows to obtain good results;
- Avoid flash light which, in addition to creating shiny areas on the images and completely distorting the captured work, is less natural, and therefore more artifactual, even for the representation of people in environments;
- It is important to have a steady wrist to avoid blur when shooting. To ensure you get the sharpest picture possible, hold the camera firmly with both hands;
- Focus on your subject and at the same time take your time choosing the most evocative shot to clearly capture the background behind you;
- Once you've taken your photo, we highly recommend using Photoshop to edit and crop it. However, if you do not have this software, you can choose other free alternatives: Gimp, Paint, Gravit.io (available directly in the browser), Pixlr (Mac) or SumoPaint.
We hope that these tips will be useful to you and will allow you to create magnificent portraits of artists which, in addition to enhancing your image, your creative dimension, your uniqueness and your work, will attract the attention of the viewer.
