Is it a bird? Is it a cloud? No, it's Udo Lindenberg in wire form! During the cult German show Bares für Rares (the German equivalent of "Affaire conclue"), a young man from Hamburg named Mahdi arrived with a rather unusual piece: a wire sculpture of the famous rocker's head. The result: a genuine collective sensation in the auction room.

Even the mustachioed presenter Horst Lichter didn't need any clues: "It's Udo!" he exclaimed immediately, before everyone erupted in wonder at the details of this aerial portrait. Expert Detlev Kümmel, for his part, was completely mesmerized: "Under the light, a shadow emerges and becomes a drawing... it's magic!"

Behind this creation is Susanne Jörgen , a sculptor and painter based in Hamburg, whose work can also be found on ArtMAjeur . After a career in marketing and publishing, she gave it all up for wire – literally. For her, this industrial material is a living thing: it captures light, plays with the air, and is constantly transforming.

Her unique sculptures seem to float in space and change their appearance depending on the light. Among the dealers, it was pandemonium: “Udo!” exclaimed Walter Lehnertz, while Lisa Nüdling let out a sincere “Wow!” The auction quickly turned into a duel, particularly between Lehnertz and Anaisio Guedes, both determined to leave with the most drahtig (“slender” singer, for German speakers).

From €500 to €4,000, the figures climbed faster than a guitar solo. Finally, Walter Lehnertz won the bid at €4,100 , even exceeding the initial purchase price. The emotion was palpable: “It was an impulse buy,” he admitted.

And Mahdi? He leaves with a huge smile and €100 more than expected. As for Udo, the wire-thin version, he's probably still projecting his famous "Panik Energie" somewhere, between shadow and light.
