       Originally from Hazebrouck (Hauts de France) Marion HAMELIN has always had a passion for drawing. It is during her studies that she starts to paint in a free and spontaneous way. Made with acrylic on wood, her paintings explore the frontier between landscape and abstraction by seeking to render a light, an energy, a sensation and invites to stop and contemplate, to be transported. In search of different techniques, Marion HAMELIN makes her own paintings from natural pigments that she grinds and scatters and then uses them as a final touch to her paintings, bringing a light, a different depth that gives life to the colors that the glossy varnish applied on the painting brings out. This mix of ready-to-use paint and handmade paint establishes an invisible link between modern and ancient techniques when the ochres from the quarries of Puisaye in Bourgogne are used in the work.
