Les têtards ont fasciné mon enfance.
A la fois impassibles et nerveux, ils évoluent dans des espaces confinés - mares, fossés, abreuvoirs et autres marigots - lieux propices au secret et à la rêverie. Leur corps combine des volumes d’apparence rudimentaires mais, pour peu qu’on s’y arrête, d’une grande beauté plastique...
Leurs regards si particulier semblent nous scruter (comme autre fois derrière la vitre du bocal où nous les avions confinés) et nous poser la question: qui regarde qui ?
J’ai réalisé en terre cuite une vingtaine de têtards surdimensionnés, de tailles différentes, que j’installe au sol en fonction de l’espace qui m’est proposé. Ils peuvent être associés ou non à divers matériaux de préférence opaques voire transparents.
Ils sont dans cette installation organisés en cercle autour d'une vasque ayant recueilli un peu d'eau de pluie
Par le changement d’échelle et la multiplication, mon intention est de provoquer d’abord la surprise, l’étonnement, et nous rappeler à cet état d’enfance où nous étions nous-mêmes promis à bien des métamorphoses.
