Here we have a hidden object picture that shows a typical scene on a square in a busy city in Kenya. We see many different elements, figures and actions that overwhelm us at first. Because of the simultaneity and the abundance of details, the eye, while looking at the small, cannot perceive the big picture composition at the same time.
It is generally assumed that the genre began with the paintings of Hieronymus Bosch in the 15th century, whose most famous hidden object picture is "The Garden of Delights". Another work of this genre by Bosch is "The Haywagon". In this respect Leonard Ngure, himself a master of his trade, is in good company. However, hidden object images can be found in many eras.

Leonard Ngure is a contemporary Kenyan painter. The focus of his paintings is on the everyday chaos of life: market scenes, traffic chaos, crowds of people. It goes up and down, the viewer needs time to grasp the essentials first. The scenery is often framed by shops, hotels, pubs and clubs, while the sky is filled with helicopters and airplanes. Ngures works are very direct and remind us of our children's coloring books, which everyone remembers with a smile. The artist took part in various exhibitions held in Kenya, including those at the Banana Hill Art Gallery, the Goethe-Institut, and the Malindi Biennial.
