I'm an amateur travel photographer, sometimes surprised by my own photos, and eager to share them with other travel and photography enthusiasts. My wanderlust led me to Rajasthan at a young age. I caught the bug. My first big trip was to Southern Africa, crossing from Johannesburg to Cape Town; the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls left an indelible mark on me. Southeast Asia beckoned: Vietnam, Bali, and Sulawesi, where I experienced some of my best scuba dives (Bunaken). I was captivated by Cuba, from Santa Lucia to Punta de Maisi. The red desert of Jordan and the turtle nesting season on the shores of the Persian Gulf in Oman. East Africa for another photo safari in Tanzania, and swimming with dolphins in southern Zanzibar. The Indian Ocean, its dhows, fishermen, and beaches, filled me with joy (Mauritius, Réunion, Madagascar, Zanzibar, Oman...). Back in India, on a motorcycle along the Indus Valley, through Ladakh and Kashmir, Srinagar captivates me. On the Silk Road in Western China, from Urumqi via Kashgar along the Taklamakan Desert, to the Kyrgyz and Pakistani borders. Then on to Afghanistan, the "impossible journey": the Wakhan Corridor, Bamiyan and its vanished Buddhas, Jalalabad, and the Panjshir Valley, the valley of Commander Massoud. I realize I have a particular affinity for the arid, mountainous landscapes of this Central Asia with its verdant valleys. Next come the landscapes of Iran, a people of hospitality and culture. In Gujarat, at Gandhi's ashram. Nepal offers me a sunset over Mount Everest. North America welcomes me several times. Egypt offers me an intense culture shock. Burma is an old dream that keeps its promises, just like distant southern Ethiopia and its tribes from time immemorial. The road opens before me once more.
