Anneke Cornelia Louw (Ankie) was born in Mariental, Namibia, immigrated to South Africa in 1988 and is currently living in Cape Town, South Africa. She is known to most of her friends as "Ankie" and uses this shorter name to sign her work.
She has been painting for a number of years with different mediums, predominately fabric painting until recently when branched off into oil painting. Her first works for sale were 3 large fabric paintings. When she took these paintings to a local artist to frame, he liked her style of painting and convinced her to try out the oil medium and invited her to attend art classes with him. Her creativity knows no bounds and this translates in her artwork, for its beautiful shading and attention to detail will brighten any home.
