"Silver Lining" Sold at Lyme Associates Show- 24x30" oil on linen
Hello Friends and Family!
I've been very busy doing my President job for the CT Women Artists as we have a very busy year ahead of us! I have a special team of women on our Council working hard together to make this another great year for women artists! Go to our beautiful new website to see what's up... CTwomenartists.org
In the meantime, many of my CWA friends were selected for the Slater CT Artist show. Congratulations to my CWA Council friend Sarah Warda for winning Best in Show for her thoughtful portrait and for everyone who got in! I had entered my large waterfall... but, unfortunately this juror did not select it. That's life as an artist! It's been in other shows especially last year at Lyme's Associate Show, so it's all fine.
As for Lyme's Associate Show, this year's juror chose two of my paintings.. and "Silver Lining" Sold.. before the Opening reception. I would have rather it have been left for the opening.. but am very excited that an attorney from the area loved it enough to buy it! I replaced it with another painting as we are allowed to do. "Marsh to Plum Island", an oil on brushed gold aluminum is also hanging in this show. This is a beautiful show to see if you get the chance.
Many more shows ahead! Good luck everyone!
PS: Our CWA Members' Show Prospectus is up on our new website at: CTwomenartists.org . Our national show prospectus, which is in September, will also be up soon!
November 2019: I will be exhibiting both weekends for the Open Studio Hartford this year. For the first weekend of November 9-10th, I will be at the Colt building and for the 2nd weekend of November 16-17th, I will be at the CT Historical Society for the 5th year at the end of a middle isle. You will find plenty of beautiful art and crafts and great prices all around! I have many packs of my art cards as well as Giclees (archival quality copies) for sale as well. Please come by and visit over either weekend. I would love to see you!

Ken and I packed up our van full of the tent, sides, artwork, etc. and off we went to Long Island Saturday, October 5th. We always set up the Sunday morning of the show which goes from 10-5 pm. We had a good day of visitors and admirers and a few important sales to make a good day of it!
Thank you to our new friend from the service station who towed our van after we made it to NY Saturday late afternoon... and who fixed our front brakes (after they were smoking!) and helped us actually make it to the show!
This 24x36 oil plus frame sold to a lovely man, Gary, and his wife from the area. Thank you Gary! I hope it brings you much joy!
Our Opening Reception for the CWA Annual National Open Juried Exhibition went beautifully! Thank you to our Reception team, Julie, Michelle Tragakiss, Cindy Wagner, Jan Veenema and Anne Sheffield who found the great, local spot to buy our 90th Anniversary cake from!
Thank you everyone!!
My "Reflections on Vineyard Pond" took the Council Award while the right side won the Phillip Shumaker Award at the Hudson Valley Annual Juried Exhibit, still up at Lyme Art Assoc. The right side also SOLD! I will connect with the buyers soon. I doubt they would have $ or space for the entire diptych?
Congratulations to all of our Award winners!
Slater Memorial Museum, Crescent Street, Norwich, CT, USA
Our special juror, Anne Sievers, Curator of the Univ. of St. Josephs in West Hartford selected the artwork for our 90th Anniversary CWA National exhibit. I thank her for choosing my "Reflections on Vineyard Pond" 24x30" oil for our show.
As President of our CT Women Artists' organization for my 2nd year now, I am very proud of the beautiful and, as always, very diverse, exhibition which will begin on Saturday, June 15th, but our Opening Reception will be on Saturday, June 22nd from 1-3 pm. Please come and enjoy our show either then or over the summer.
Awards will be given at our Opening Reception. Good luck to all our talented women artists!
I found out that our juror gave my painting the Council Award! Thank you Juror Sievers.
Lyme Art Association, Lyme Street, Old Lyme, CT, USA
The Hudson Valley Art Assoc, has selected my "Reflections on Vineyard Pond" (right side of the diptych) for their 86th Annual Juried Exhibition now held at the Lyme Art Association. Last year's exhibit was a great one, but I just missed entering! This time I entered two of my pieces and they choose only one.
Great news! Not only did my painting win an Award!.. but it SOLD too! Very excited.
I am very proud to be part of this prestigious exhibit. Open from June 14th - August 1st, 2019. I hope you will find time to get here and see this amazingly beautiful exhibit of realism all about the 'natural form, color and design which distinguish fine painting and sculpture."
118th Annual Juried Art Exhibit for the New Haven Paint and Clay Club is being hung.
My 'Silver Lining' was chosen to be in their very competitive exhibit!. Their show will be held at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, 80 Audubon St. from May 11-June 1, 2019 with the Opening Reception on Saturday, May 11 from 2-5 with Awards at 3 pm. I hope you find time to stop by and enjoy the amazing artwork!
Hello friends and family!
I was so excited to hear that I won the 2nd Place Award at Lyme Art Association for my 'Delayed Departure' oil on coated aluminum of a beautiful sunset over a train station in Boston in winter. It was an amazing scene.. and I had to paint it!
I also entered my 30x40" waterfall called "Hidden Gem II". You never know what a juror will choose.. but I know this juror appreciates well-executed paintings which have very good compositions as well.
The Opening Reception and award ceremony will be Sunday, Jan. 27th from 2-4 pm. Please come help me celebrate if you can!
At 4500 Chapel Street in New Haven ( a building that used to be part of St. Raphael's Hospital).. see the circle drive in the front. Park nearby or in the parking garage around the back off George St.
We hung 8 of my paintings (some as framed Giclees) in the front hall along with about 6-8 from the other husband and wife. The people who work there obviously enjoy the changing art every month.
A nice man from Madison bought three of my medium to smaller paintings of marsh and the boat on the water for his wife.. Thank you Nick!
The other husband and wife's artworks were on the other end of the hallway. Just enough room for 1-2 artists.
Hello friends and family! Art lovers! Open Studio Hartford is running this weekend.
I will be showing at the lovely CT Historical Society again. Plenty of easy parking and a beautiful weekend ahead! Please stop by. We have such talented artists and crafts as well as a wonderful jeweler .. I love her precious stone work!
I will be having a SALE on my art! Stop by and tell me what you like... and I will give you a great price this weekend! Sometimes us artists need to clear inventory to make room for more!
What a beautiful, round and busy gallery in the front of their huge, bustling Jewish Community Center! We all enjoyed the Opening Reception and a few pieces did sell. This location would be great for a solo show! Not sure they do them... they like groups.
While we were at our reception, my artist friend talked with Betsy from the Town and County Club in Hartford (near the Governor's Manshon area) when she stopped by and set me up (after she enjoyed my 3-4 paintings there) to email her. I texted with her afterwards and ended up with the T&C group's 'Resounding YEs"! to having a show for me on their schedule this summer! :)
Thank you Karen!
One of our CWA women artists from up near Rhode Island, invited Nancy Witcher, Patricia Corbett and I to join their show at this lovely galley. What a talented and varied show! So proud to have been invited by Sadie Davore.
In April I was asked to give an interview to be included in our area newspapers, which I of course did. Mara did a fine job taking photos and including a few images that I gave her of my newer paintings. I thanked her for the opportunity and heard from a number of friends and others who saw and enjoyed the article. You can view it if you go to www.Turleyct.com and look in the Rocky Hill, April, 2018 Archives. It is always nice to have a bit of extra attention drawn to your hard work... your art! :)
Thank you again Mara!
As President of our CT Women Artists organization, I organize our two shows each year. With the help of our past President Nancy Witcher, our Members' show was a success! Our juror, Kathryn Myers, head of Painting at UCONN Storrs, did a wonderul job choosing a diverse and beautiful show. And Paul Baylock and his special volunteers at the Art League of New Britain helped us hang and enjoy our time at their newly painted bright red building! Thank you to all our CWA women volunteers who helped our show run smoothly. Our two talented high school Scholarship winners enjoyed joining our show with their beautiful art and sculptures. We wish them good luck as they move on to college next year and hope they are successful in following their dreams! Thank you Shania and Lexi! And Congratulations to all our winners!
Art in the Abbey was, as usual, a beautiful sight to see! The churcha was laid out with all the artists' artwork, lighting, decorations... a lovely place to be! The event went well Friday night with music up and in the church, wine-tastings up and downstairs, jewelry and other hand-made goods. And appetizers constantly coming around to nibble on.
You can always get good prices on our art and all the profit goes to benefit the area food pantry and other charities.
I always hope more and more people will come and enjoy the evening. On Saturday mornings, you can stop by free to view all the art and many gift baskets to purchase as well. Hope to see you next year in mid-March!
My 4th year participating in the Open Studio Hartford where I was set up at the beautiful CT Historical Society off Asylum St. near Elizabeth Park. We had a nice weekend, enjoying my artist friends. Not many sales as there are too many venues for people to attempt to visit and only 2 days to do everything. We artists are all hoping they will make this into a 2-weekend event next year.
All in all a special weekend at a beautiful spot.
I forgot to tell you that I was so excited to have my large diptich called "Reflections on the Pond" be accepted into Lyme's big Annual Landscape show.. and it was hung in the middle of the largest wall in the center gallery! The juror loved it, but I didn't need an award when my art took up 66" of wall space for two months during this lovely show.
Lyme Art Association in Lyme, CT is one beautiful and huge gallery that I enjoy being an Associate Member at due to the fact that they love and appreciate more realistic paintings and exhibit plenty of landscapes and Waterscapes (as I call many of mine). It is very competitive to get your work accepted most times. I was very happy and proud!
