"Em 'As deep as the Blue', minha jornada artística se desdobra em uma série de telas, cada uma uma exploração meticulosa de cor e emoção. Executadas principalmente em acrílico sobre tela, minha abordagem técnica envolve um cuidadoso jogo de técnicas para transmitir uma profundidade conceitual.
A paleta de cores é deliberadamente centrada em tons matizados de azul, desafiando expectativas convencionais. Através da aplicação de técnicas como esmalte, impasto e sgraffito, construo uma narrativa visual dinâmica que oscila entre introspecção e conflito. O contraste deliberado de azuis serenos com tons ousados e justapostos intensifica a tensão emocional incorporada em cada composição.
Tamanhos diversos de tela são empregados intencionalmente, aprimorando o impacto visual. Minhas escolhas em composição e moldura são deliberadas, guiando o espectador por uma exploração sutil de estados emocionais. Títulos como "Elemental Equilibrium" e "Emotion, Tension, Relief" funcionam como portais para meu mundo contemplativo, incitando os espectadores a interagir cuidadosamente com cada obra.
Minha habilidade técnica reside na manipulação de cor, forma e textura para evocar um sentido aguçado de introspecção e conflito. "As deep as the Blue" é um testemunho de minha capacidade de transcender fronteiras tradicionais, convidando os espectadores a vivenciarem uma fusão cativante de maestria técnica e profundidade emocional."

Bem-vindo ao envolvente universo da série Synapse de Luís – uma odisseia artística que navega pelos sinapses entre o céu e a terra. Porque 'Synapse'? Este termo simboliza a relação intrínseca entre o artista, os seus pensamentos, sentimentos e a concretização de cada obra – uma ponte que liga os reinos imaginativos da fantasia (Céu) ao mundo tangível da criação (Terra).
Estas sinapses ganham vida na dinâmica da tinta, oscilando entre pinceladas silenciosas e calculadas e explosões de expressão enérgica e selvagem. Apelidadas de 'Sinapses entre o céu e a terra', estas vibrantes telas são testemunho de uma fusão colorida, impactante e única entre a imaginação e a realidade. A música serve como ignição e farol, orientando a energia criativa para se manifestar numa forma primordial e intuitiva, quase primitiva.
Esta série apresenta 34 pinturas abstratas, variando de tamanhos normais a muito grandes, cada uma delas emocional, intuitiva, original e única – elaboradas por mim, Luís Bastos. Assinadas discretamente na parte de trás, com bordas pintadas e esticadas sobre uma estrutura de madeira, cada peça está pronta para pendurar, equipada com um sistema de suporte confiável.

In this series, Luís gathers some paintings where the figure and the very colorful gestural expression are the central focus. Beyond the pictorial images, sometimes neo-expressionist or perhaps even avant-garde, the artist tries to transport us to themes that deserve an in-depth analysis of the daily life of modern societies, as well as suggesting a personal reflection on topics such as the search for success or women's rights.
It is also a desire to spread the message about the most diverse current issues in a more activist way, bringing light to the darkest corners of the system.
Detached from the goal of shocking or hurting people's susceptibilities, the artist merely portrays the way he feels about certain themes using his observation and interpretation.

Zigzagging between synapses Luís likes to express his deep connection with nature, especially with the beings that live there. These works arise from an explosion of inspiration, and where does this inspiration come from? Well, from the most varied places, from long walks and simple observation of the flora and fauna, the beings that inhabit this planet of ours, and all the beauty that exists around us, a source of food for the soul of an artist. And everything is distilled into beautiful canvases, full of feeling and emotion, paying homage to the most beautiful creatures of our planet. Biography
Luís Bastos, born in Elvas on March 2, 1975 and currently residing in the charming village of Sesimbra since his early days, is a notable Portuguese artist whose works transcend the conventional boundaries of art. His preferred themes revolve around depth psychology and philosophy, where art manifests itself as an extension of the human soul.
Gifted with a unique talent for painting and drawing since childhood, the artist faced notable challenges during his youth. The initial influence of a professor whose authoritarian and traumatizing characteristics, combined with social and cultural adversities, left an indelible mark on his academic journey, thus determining his ability to fully explore his talent in this context.
Today, almost 50 years old, the artist reflects maturely on how these experiences conditioned his relationship with art and his professional practice.
In 2018, as an act of liberation from a troubled life, marked by emotional and professional turmoil, Luís Bastos found a transformative escape in art. A marital separation, permeated by a depressive emotional state, gave way to a new phase of self-discovery and artistic expression. He decides to invest professionally in his passion and rents a store where he immerses himself intensely in artistic creation. His work, which excels in a unique magic, has won admirers not only nationally, but also internationally, with collectors in the USA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, Italy, among other countries.
Luís Bastos states with conviction that art not only transformed his life, but also represents the beginning of a journey that aims to recreate not only what is visible, but, above all, what one feels, therefore, as he poignantly puts it : "The essential is invisible to the eyes."
