Since the start of his career as a painter, Gilles LAJEUNESSE has experimented with a number of mediums and techniques. Now at his age, for several years he has found his way into contemporary art and what a way! His paintings have an absolutely unique and superb style. A self-taught painter, he deepens his knowledge through his exhaustive research on the history of art and the different painting techniques. He participates in several improvement workshops.
His journey first led him towards a figurative style. He then developed a particular attraction for abstract art.
His meeting with the famous and late Lise Gervais greatly influenced him, which encouraged him to move towards contemporary art. However, with the admiration he has towards Jackson Pollock whom he considers to be the greatest American painter, and Jean Paul Riopel whom he considers to be the greatest Canadian painter.
