Most of my career was in humanitarian assistance, which allowed me to live and be present at some of the worst emergencies around the globe over the past 35 years. I retired recently from the federal government to become a professor at a New England university. Over the years I mostly worked. While gratifying in one sense, it was draining of the artful spirit. I was lucky to meet Lew Berry and fall in love with photography. In particular I trend toward landscapes because I want to be out in nature. I am an avid hiker, and now my camera is the first thing in my pack.
