white chairs and table under the linden tree - Painting, 11.2x15.4 in ©2000 by Katie O'looney -

I am allmost sure that is is France, Dordogne, Veyrines de Domme, "Le Mondiol". Chairs and table are on the "citerne", the waterreserve for housekeeping (not to drink). At the back if the cheeer right behind there is the cover (entry) of the "citerne" 10 cm higher. The line left dark and clair green marks the path to the linden-tree. Behind the backchair left are the two stone-steps of the path. The linden-tree I cured about 1961 by cleaning the hollow top and filling it in with concrete. Probably the concrete is encapsulated completely now a days. Som meters behind the compound of the linden there is a wall going 3 meters down. At the right edge to the end there is an interruption in the big wall; that makes it possible to open a cover low down. under iThar concrete cover is a water-tap to make it possible to empty the "citerne". under the pear tree - Painting, 18.1x24 in ©2005 by Katie O'looney - garden under the pear tree

This is France, Dordogne, Veyrines de Domme, Le Mondiol. See my comments also elsewere. Here you see (at first behind the flowers) the low stone wall, and turning to the left. The path in the front is going down behind the wall. The tee is an Tamarinde; there the wall is interrupted for purpose of that tree. Bihind the hanging plant you see a door from the barn, That part (in two and two doors) was the pigsty, we supposed. Behinfd that is the oldest part of the barnbuildings (enlaged with twoo sheep-folds; one of them we turned in a garage. Behind the fronttree is the "poirier". At the right edge you see big verry old Buxus-hedge. There is another just more to the right; in between is the only (small) road going up to the house. When your could turn around you would see the leftside of the house parallel tot the wall leftside at 10 meters. Vinkeles Melchers, H.H. This is also France, Dordogne, Veyrines de Domme, "Le Mondiol". Right from de low wall is the flowergarden. Just two steps behind you can go in the garden. The path goos staight to the linden-tree; there are two stone steps near that tree to come on the compound just around it. Right from the pathe is the "citerne", the waterreserve. The darker line in the picture right above marks the wall, that is 2 meters high (going down). The dark bush in the line of the pottery is a buxus. One path is going down there and one is going in the looking-line. Left of that (as you can see just a bit) is the enty to a meadow, surrounded by about one meter 20 cm high walls and two roads. Left of the picture at about 10 meters is the house. Vinkeles Melchers, H.H. (Henk / Henri / Henri) Sint-Maaqrtensdijk, zeeland, Netherland.

garden chair - Painting, 7.5x9.5 in ©2002 by Katie O'looney -

This painting is also in France, Dordogne, Veyrines de Domme, "Le Mondiol" At the back of the painting is the house, shown on two other paintings. The chair is on the "citerne" that was open in 1958 en covered the year after to serve as waterreserve. Behaind the chair is an "poirier". The law wall in the front is turning from there to the left behind the chair; there the wall is much higher; the ground is going down. At the right edge of the painting there is a glimp of the road to the house; the dark green is "buxus"; We lived the at hollidays for 30 years, starting in 1958/1959. Behind the chair left is an appeltree, covering the sight on the barn-buildings. The name Le Mondiol is very old and is marked too on the maps of about 1800. Many years before 1958 the house was unhabited; in the second World War a family from Elzas-Loraine, "réfugés" was living there, with the name Kaupt. He did cooperate with the Germans in the war. We found an German iron cross in the bushes near the house. After the war the people from the community send him (Kaupt) back to Elzas-Loraine. The man did not do well in the farmining neither. We made a little "fortune" from the winebottles left behind. The house had origionaly only two rooms. Of that the windows were largened considerably in 1958. In 1953 the ANWB (the netherlands Automibile Association) considered to make a camping of the property. As it was impossible to pass people going in and out at the same time, the deal failed; the road was long and too small for the purpuse of an camping. I lost my hart in selling the property. The walls of stone around the compound were restored and enlarged during 30 years to give it a better look and to connect small places more naturaly and usefully. I could write a book about our time and events at Le Mondiol. Vinkeles Melchers, H.H. (Henk / Henri / Henri), Sint-Maartensdijk, Zeeland. Netherland.

chickens and blue shutters - Painting, 10.6x8.7 in ©1996 by Katie O'looney -

Dear Katie ! It is with precission that I know where this is painted. It is Le Mondiol. At the right side the door to the stable-part of the house. At the left the window of the sleeping room. At the inside, left seen from here there is an press, 3/4 in the wall. In our time there was the hydrophore. I made the outer part of the press. The Shutters were red in the first 20 jears; after that the were close to bronce/oker. The windows themselves were all around light yellow; we never changed that. There is a terras of flat stones layed in concrete at the left; part of it is a stone cover that gives way to the septic tank; at the side there is a concrete cover from a smal pit, to drain the waterworks, especialle in regard to the hydrophore. I constructed all that. Selling the place was quite a task: at fist in three languages; several fiscal consults, a string of notarys, a rent that was only payed after a difficult period, brothers that made it difficult to get to the buisines, a brittish buyer that interjected new procedures with consequenses for the procedure that got to much delay. After all, and not without "headache", we ageeed and reached the finish. Formally I myself was the contracting partner. It would be kind to hear from you. With kindest regards, Henk Vinkeles Melchers, Sint-Maartensdijk, Netherland (mind you no s after the d !) My e-mail-address will be known to you by posting this letter now.

le Mondiol - Painting, 30x40 in ©2007 by Katie O'looney -

Nice to look at our former property. From 1959 up to about 35 years we lived there. It was most painfull to sell Le Mondiol (than 17 ha all in the nature). Much work has been done in our period. Our best neighbours were called Vierge on the hill Le Brouillet, at the right site of the front-vieuw. With kindest regards,Henk Vinkeles Melchers, Sint-Maartensdijk Netherland
