I don't feel the need to talk about myself, my drawings do it for me. But if I do not evoke myself a little, I fear that certain information will appear out of step with my intimate reality. Expressing is essential. So I'm going to try to talk about this painting that runs through my veins. For me of course, but also and I would say above all,... for those who have followed my work since the time when I was still only a shadow and those who discover me. I take this opportunity to thank them.
My drawings have taken on a sufficient proportion, like a signal that would tickle my ideas. So maybe it's time for me to make that effort to write. My relationship to writing is ambiguous: I like to write - especially words of love - but this is often to the detriment of my painting. Writing steals my inspiration over time. For this reason, I paint and draw a lot, but write little. In a completely natural momentum, I dedicate the allotted time of each of my days to my preference.
There are those who love my work, with respect and gentleness. As sensitive as I can be, they vibrate at first sight and that makes them happy because they have guessed the intimate. For those who interpret my artistic identity in a personal way, today I feel the need to sow pretty colored pebbles, to throw between them and me a little bridge of words. I have to make them understand the sun that drives me, where my inspiration comes from, what makes my identity.
Every artist is an alchemist. Whether he is aware of it or not, whether he likes it or whether he deviates from it, he receives the heritage of his peers. His work therefore becomes a mixture of influences, experience and rage. For my part and with hindsight, I will relate my work to that of Asger Jorn, one of the experimental artists of the CoBrA Movement. All modesty aside of course...
I was born into a family of artists, painters for three generations. Self-taught, I paint to exist. To feel loved. And if in my passion I seek a little recognition, this is rarely synonymous with success but rather with sparkle: that which I perceive in the eyes of those who appreciate what I have painted. Of a generous nature, I offer in my paintings the totality of my being. Emboldened by a taste for adventure, I explore the paths of creation, more rarely its boulevards. My recurring themes deal with variation characters. I also like to work on sight, hearing and smell. On the non-perceptible and the hardly quantifiable. Addressing themes such as human imperfection and metaphysics are exercises that delight me. Painting has become as necessary for me as breathing.
For two years, I have been painting and breathing in the Luberon.
