Julie D'Aragon
After 20 years in the magnificent city of Bordeaux, I am resting my easel and my brushes in Toulouse. Toulouse, this pink and colorful city that saw me grow up.
It is perhaps there and in Albi that my attachment to pink and the warm colors of the South came.< br />My taste for drawing and painting slowly emerged while wandering through galleries, museums and exhibitions of all kinds... And then the desire to paint came to me, to choose myself the mixture of colors and the rhythm of the curves, to transmit the happiness that the colored touches give me...
It is thanks to the wise advice of my teacher Emmanuel Ballangé that I ended up finding the touch that corresponds to my painting.
From this I would say that it is a modern style, largely derived from impressionism and fauvism with bright colors and thick keys. My goal is to create colorful vibrations without abstracting myself from the subject which interests me deeply and which gives meaning to my painting.
Keep only the strong lines of a subject and bringing it to life through the touch and not the line is an exercise that has fascinated me for a long time and on which I work assiduously.
The themes of my paintings are varied: Bordeaux, Toulouse, bullfights, nudes, trees, boats …
For almost a year and after 15 years in the bank I chose to become a full-time painter. Quite a challenge but my free time did not allow me to explore this area as I wanted…
To start this new life, I went to stay in various cities, namely Madrid, Albi, Madrid again and I preparing to join Rome in March 2018.
It is for me the possibility of understanding and feeling these cities in order to paint them better. It is also an opportunity to take part in a few courses and learn new techniques.
Following my trip to Madrid I created the exhibition “Madrid Strong, Proud and Generous” at the House of Families in Bordeaux. I am staying in Rome today and I am preparing an exhibition in June 2018 in Bordeaux entitled “Cities of the Heart”.
This exhibition will feature paintings on the different cities where I have stayed and which I have loved.
br />Finally, I plan in the medium term to create an exhibition on the “first Christian churches”. I have already made a trip to Armenia and am preparing to go to Lebanon for some time. I plan to build this exhibition over several years.
