José Carlos Balanza (Logroño, 1952) is one of the most outstanding artists in La Rioja, with a forceful work, without concessions, in which matter and form enter into ancestral references. He uses various materials and techniques, which become mere tools for spreading his message. Reflective as well as provocative, Balanza shows a constant evolution, seeking through his creations, more than answers, questions about reality and its perception, a direct challenge towards the viewer, who cannot remain indifferent in front of his work of art. Basically, he works with painting and sculpture within the informalist currents and has a wide exhibition career, at the level of the entire state.
