Jean-Marie Gitard, aka Mr Strange is a French artist born in 1964 who lives in the south of France.
After studying art history and a classic approach as a visual artist, Mr Strange, largely inspired by surrealism and driven by a curious and inventive personality, gradually moved away from classic painting to be interested in the digital world. This allowed him to deepen his inner universe and take an unconstrained look at the world around him.
His works take the form of photo manipulations.
Hybridization, logic of the absurd, subversion, are the artist's favorite entry points. From birth to death, from the individual to society, it spares no one. Mr Strange handles surrealism with a certain derision, and offers a reflection on the world that is sometimes poetic, sometimes caustic but always sharp.
Looking at a world upside down.
Mr strange is present in numerous collections in France and abroad.

His artistic evolution leads him to appropriate the digital medium and create what he calls his photo manipulations. Hybridization, logic of the absurd, subversion, are the doors of entry of choice of the artist. From birth to death, from the individual to society, he spares no one.
The works of Mr Strange are printed in Fine Art quality on Hanhemühle paper, canvas or Alu Dibond (delivered with a certificate of authenticity). The works are reproduced at 30 copies for the serigraphs on paper and 10 copies for the prints on canvas and Alu Dibond. All are signed and numbered by hand.
Some of his original works are produced in oil as a result of a partnership with Bruce Fan, a painter friend of the artist who strives to reproduce the pieces as accurately as possible.
