Portrait of a young woman wearing a beret, painted in oil on a plain background. The model is dressed in yellow summer clothes and wearing a large beret of the same colour. The background is a gradation from light blue at the top to dark ultramarine at the bottom. The light coming from the left edge illuminates the model, who is looking in the same direction.

Jean Marie Pen was born in 1959 and began painting on canvas in 1994, with his earliest works being black and white portraits with a hint of blue. Then came still lifes and landscapes, one by one, with a palette that was enriched by numerous tones. Only in oil, with no special influences other than a few Northern European artists and their bright masterpieces.
