ECCE HOMO

Jazzu est la signature d’un autodidacte dont la modestie fait frontière avec la timidité. Un homme qui ne veut dire ce qu’il est d’instincts et d'émotions que dans ses toiles, et qui ne cède pas à la vanité de se réclamer d’autre légitimité que d’être heureux avec des pinceaux et des aérosols comme d’autres ont des instruments à cordes ou des carnets d’écriture.

Jazzu peint comme il respire, par delà les filiations, les courants et les codes et c’est probablement la vitalité et la sincérité de son geste, qui ont déjà mené galeristes et vendeurs à faire cohabiter ses toiles avec celle de Combas ou de Speedy Graphito.

Pas de posture dans sa peinture, pas de préméditation, Jazzu est un instinctif qui travaille le ressenti dans une alchimie de couleurs et de matière que lui dictent ses sujets. Porté par la nécessité de traduire ce qu’il perçoit de l’actualité culturelle et politique de notre époque, on pourrait dire de sa peinture qu’elle est brute au sens primitif de l’acte pourtant elle sait se faire sensuelle en texture, parfois même épidermique tant il y a d’humain dans le trait.

Les toiles de Jazzu parlent comme la trompette de Miles Davis pouvait pleurer ou rire, parce qu’elles ont de l’enfant ce que Sartre appelait un monstre que les adultes fabriquent avec leurs regrets.
