In the 1920’s, a large number of Poles left their country to try their luck in places where waged no war, occupation or misery. Jan GRUNT, my grandfather on my mother’s side, took his wife Zofia to Bresil, a country of great promises but came back because of ill health. They then decided on France. The mine got the better of Jan in 1937. My grandfather on my father’s side, Bronislaw MALIK, who came from Plock on the Vistule River, also chose France. He was a miner during the week and a comedian during the week-end until his death in 1957, a year before my birth. From one I inherited not only my christian name but also an inclination for travel and adventures. From the other, I inherited a love of drama, staging and telling stories. My love of music, of reading and my admiration for the works of Bruegel, Grunewald, Bosch, Rousseau, Dali, Bauchant, Rabuzin and many others added to this precious heritage the ingredients to create a life dedicated to Art (my first painting dates from 1972, in the Hautes-Alpes, France). I chose the Primitive Art because this art form corresponds exactly with my heart and my slavonic temperament, because this art form will resist to time and will not disappear. Thus, I try to give my modest contribution but the apprenticeship is very long !
