Jan Pogany, born in Poland, lives in Munich and Wrocław. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the painting class of prof. Gerhard Merz. Previously, he completed his musical education as a conductor and cellist at the University of Music in Munich. Already as a child, he showed great interest in painting and took part in national competitions, where he won the highest prizes. He was initially educated by his older sister, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, and she is a well-known painter in Poland. The artist mainly deals with oil painting, his paintings have been exhibited both at collective and individual exhibitions, including the Seywald Gallery in Salzburg (Austria), many times in Germany, including the Gallery of the District Office in Kronach, the Gasteig Cultural Center in Munich and at an individual exhibition at the City Gallery in Bayreuth and the City Library Gallery in Wrocław." As a conductor, Jan Pogany has performed in famous concert halls and permanently cooperates with many prestigious symphony orchestras in many countries and has received many international awards for his musical compositions. His painting, like his music, is a delicate harmony of colors with a hint of melancholy. He often returns to themes characteristic of his painting. He tries to present the problems of duration and passing, as well as relations with the intangible, extrasensory reality in a more expressive way, not forgetting about purely painting values, for which light and color will always be of great importance.
