It looks like a springboard to the sky.
I rendered my impression of a wooden pier in Cannes on the French Riviera. The place is called Moure Rouge on Palm Beach, Cannes.
I wanted to do a distilled abstraction - pure minimalism. This picture gives the viewer an impression of flying in the sky. If you gradually approach the monumental canvas from a distance of 6 or 7 meters, it seems that you are mounting the pier, like the bar of a skydiving tower, and going out into the sky above the sea.
Any details would have distracted you from entering the picture. I caught up with a light haze of vapors, but not fog; water evaporated from the surface of the warm sea. I blurred the edges of the color forms to give more airiness. For the first time in my artistic practice, I did so, and this is counter to my usual hard-edge geometric style.
The space of this picture is concrete and illusionary at the same time. In this composition I explore minimalist iconography. On the face value of it, it looks like an optical composition; in fact, it is an exercise in the philosophy of time and space.
The optical presence of my pictures is misleading; the essence of this picture is far beyond the canvas.
I painted this picture with Italian Maimeri Classico oil colors.
There is no need to frame because the edges are painted.
Signed, titled, and dated on the back. I sign my artworks on the back, to avoid unbalancing the subtle composition by an artifact like a signature.
The picture comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Ready to hang, wired with a steel cord. I provided hanging cords on two sides of the picture because you may wish to hang it upside down. In fact, it looks quite interesting this way, reminding of an overarching portal to other worlds.
My paintings are securely packaged to make sure they reach you safely.
