Why do I paint?
Omnipresent in me, strangely this question only arises after painting.
In my practice, one thing is obvious: Action precedes thought. I paint to be seen, like a writer who writes to be read or a poet to be heard.
My visions projected spontaneously on paper represent an indispensable test of truth. The moment when everything becomes possible, the moment of tangible sharing with the public.
Hence the use of mediums like watercolor, inks and pastels which allow me passion and abandon of gesture.
French by birth, Polish by origin, alongside her studies in chemistry, Isabelle Le Vergos developed her artistic practice thanks to the decorative arts workshops of the Louvre Museum and those of the Beaux Arts of Compiègne. Arriving in Quebec in 2000 on January 15 in her early twenties, with 2 children under her arm and a husband who was a heritage tinsmith, she devoted herself to painting and restoring furniture. A student of the Canadian artist Heather Midori Yamada, she will draw from her contact the Japanese influences that we find in her work.
“I preach for humble painters. Painting does not need so much circus, nor so much intellectual pretension. It must be born from the pure soul of man, from the clear and impartial eye of the painter, even when it only involves painting a simple apple. »© José Manuel Merello
