A multi-party artist by trade (she studied at the Nancy art school, then at the Maleschule Huber in Munich, Germany), Ingrid Johann was born in 1952 to a mother from Franche-Comté, herself an artist. Always questioning her destiny, she decided to take the road at a very young age. A real saga which will take him through, among other things, Turkey and Afghanistan, Pakistan and India to go to the Himalayan mountains of Nepal.

“At the time of the hippie dream, the worst coexisted with a certain idea of ​​a universal quest. Which explains why I stayed for a while near Dhaulagiri in a small lamasery, “thinking”, while drawing to pay for the day. I refined my pencil strokes there. the precision of my line kept me alive because at that time, for the populations I crossed, cameras were rarer than gold: with a drawing, I earned a meal and a bed.

…Iran will come, then North Africa, with the crossing of the Sahara, life in the desert Niger of the North, the difficult readjustment to France, the children. The North, then Metz, in Moselle, family cradle.

In the following decades, an intense reflection turned me towards Greek philosophy in the sense that it is said there that “beauty has the power to lead back to Ideas and true Being, while aesthetic emotion must not nothing to beauty because it owes nothing to truth… I made it my source of inspiration. »

Becoming sedentary, from workshop to workshop and over time, Ingrid Johann teaches drawing while at the same time exhibiting her works here and there, in galleries or during private events. Today, she lives secluded in a mysterious region of deep France with the evocative name of "Land of 1000 ponds".

“Her work tends mainly to touch on the “mystical, the spiritual and the symbolism”, which classifies her in the Romantic movement – ​​whatever the chosen discipline”, we will say of her later. Just like my first book, an illustrated philosophical essay, “Voyageur des Mondes”.
