I heard that owls are wise, not sure if they are but I love their big eyes! I tried to focus on those eyes with this painting. I like their hoot-hoot sound they make. I actually use it when I begin my art videos that are over a minute.
This comes unframed but on stretcher bars so it's ready to hang.

Gladys Jimenez was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1963. She has travelled to over 20 countries abroad, and has lived abroad for several years. She currently lives in San Diego, CA.
Ms. Jimenez has always been a creative person (in high school she created the posters for art production department, the flyers and programs for the high school theater, and in her senior year she created the school mural).
In 1985 Ms. Jimenez fell in love with the Dutch painters after her visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This visit inspired her to use oil as her preferred painting medium.
Ms. Jimenez first juried art exhibit was in 1986 at the Barnsdall Municipal Art Gallery in Hollywood CA. Ms. Jimenez had a buyer for her painting the first day of exhibit.
From 2011-2013 Ms. Jimenez took fundamental art classes at CSUSM and Palomar College in San Marcos CA where she studied under Michael Steirnagle, Ken Joudrey and Steven Curry to name a few.
Ms. Jimenez believes in continuing to grow as an artist, so in 2018 and again in 2024, she was part of Nicholas Wilton's 12 week Creative Visionary Mentorship Program. An intensive abstract program that influenced Ms. Jimenez to paint larger pieces. In 2022 she took a Winter Quarter class at Stanford University taught by Michael Azgour, which inspired her to combine abstract and realistic work.
Ms. Jimenez has exhibited her artwork in numerous juried art exhibitions and has received several awards. Her favorite award is her first 1st Place award in Visual Arts from the Bravura Literary Journal in San Marcos CA. Ms. Jimenez artwork has been published in several publications, including the La Jolla Lifestyle Magazine, and her art is collected worldwide.
