“NETWORKS” is a series of works inspired by the Moorish decorative tile work I discovered in Lisbon. Through this collection I explored the balance between a fixed structure versus innovation and the possibility to render them both, visually. I always started from a pattern or a grid and worked around it, applying changes in shape, color or concept to the point that the "off-grid" and the "grid" could coexist.

Part of the “NETWORKS” series, “IN DISGUISE” is an artwork about duality and the fact that things are never one-sided. There are always hidden parts to discover, surprises, changes of perspective and getting to see more dimensions of the same thing can be absurdly amusing.
Look closely. What's hidden beneath the surface?

I don’t believe in art which is comforting or pretty, but I value art that has an uplifting quality. In other words, art should offer a visual game which is enjoyable and enriching. It should send a message, fill a living room with a new sensation or at least display a symphony of colors.

I make art because I need to synthesize thoughts and emotions visually. It’s not a mindless emotional release, nor a heartless mind game. It’s a clarification. Of course it’s also the pure delight of my eyes as seeing how the colors mix and take shape on the canvas can be as empowering as surprising.

I lived most of my life in Romania, moved for a couple of years in Croatia and I am currently residing in beautiful Warsaw, Poland. As an expat artist, I am inspired by new environments which help me get a fresh, somewhat detached perspective. I am passionate about philosophy, history and psychology, which influence my art a lot. I have a degree in Psychology and worked in advertising and video games industries before becoming a full time artist. I have gained my art skills during the last 10 years, mostly self-taught, but also by attending studio classes at Art Schools in Bucharest, Warsaw and online.

My preferred media are acrylic, watercolor and ink which I use on canvas and paper. I paint in an expressionist style, mostly abstract, though I don’t shy away from figurative either. I am proud to have shipped my works, until now, to private collections in Romania, Croatia, China, Canada and Ireland.
