Heidi Elmore was born in 1977 in Washington, D.C. Her life until this date, as many lives do, has contained many hardships and joys, both personal and professional.
Heidi has always found herself attracted to all things artistic, but it was during her high school years, both at Frederick High and Thomas Johnson High (where she participated in the Visual & Performing Arts school exhange program), in Frederick, Maryland, that she really discovered her desire to one day "do art" professionally on some level. She was president of the National Art Honor Society for the 1993-1994 term at Frederick High School. Unfortunately, the next year, as she had signed up for an "art school track" (many different art classes throughout the year), she was discouraged by several "guidance counsellors" - one who actually asked if she wouldn't want to do something "more productive" with her life. Unfortunately, suffering with undiagnosed bi-polar and anxiety disorder, Heidi was rather swept up by the influence of others and lost her way, both personally and artistically, for quite a while. Heidi graduated high school in 1995.
Believing that art would be neither productive nor lucrative, Heidi flopped back and forth between various colleges pursuing various unsatisfying carreer paths but always coming back to art. Over the years, Heidi has recieved professional art training from Maryland Institute College of Art and Montgomery College's School of Art & Design, but does not currently hold a degree in an artistic field.
Heidi Elmore currently lives in Frederick, Maryland, with her husband, son and two dogs and is now happily pursuing her art as a professional, but more personal endeavour. She considers it a reclamation of herself and her soul from all of the negative influences of her past, but believes that, if the time and effort is properly put into the works, eventually art could be a lucrative endeavour.
