Sonderborg) and at the Academy of Fine Arts Duesseldorf (Prof. Joseph Beuys),studies art history University of Stuttgart 1971, one year movie making in USA 1972, lives in Hamburg 1973 -1998 ,lives and works as an artist in Berlin 1991, assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Berlin ,1995 he get married to his italian wife and they move together 1996 to Piemonte near Saluzzo, Italy

Seit 2002 arbeitet Hofstetter am Zyklus „ENDLESS“, der bisher aus über 20 Tafeln (140 x 80 cm) besteht: eine Art Lebensgedicht, fragmentiert in Zeit und Raum. Evokationen, Reize, Träume, lebendige Öffnungen in der Natur und ihren Variationen (Vegetation von verschiedenen bekannten oder unbekannten Orten, Mittelmeer, Meer des Nordens, Seen, Licht, Nebel), feindselige Situationen und Ruhepausen, Einsamkeit und Begegnungen, Wege, die sich vorwärts drängen und dann zurück zu Punkten, Gedanken und Emotionen, die in der kontinuierlichen Bewegung der Dinge, ihren Ursprung nicht finden. ENDLOS: endlos die Abfolge von Offenbarungen und Mysterien,sowie gefangen zu sein zwischen Erwartung, Entdeckung, Zerstörung und Illusion.

Hofstetter has been working on the cycle "ENDLESS" since 2002, which so far consists of more than 20 panels (140 x 80 cm): a kind of life poem, fragmented in time and space. Evocations, charms, dreams, vivid openings in nature and their variations (vegetation of various known or unknown places, Mediterranean, sea of the North, lakes, light, fog), hostile situations and breaks, loneliness and encounters, paths that are moving forward pushing and then back to points, thoughts and emotions that do not find their origin in the continuous movement of things. ENDLESS: endlessly the sequence of revelations and mysteries, as well as being caught between expectation, discovery, destruction and illusion.
Hofstetter travaille sur le cycle «ENDLESS» depuis 2002, qui comprend jusqu'à présent plus de 20 panneaux (140 x 80 cm): une sorte de poème de vie, fragmenté dans le temps et dans l'espace. Evocations, charmes, rêves, ouvertures vives dans la nature et leurs variations (végétation de lieux connus ou inconnus, Méditerranée, mer du Nord, lacs, lumière, brouillard), situations et ruptures hostiles, solitude et rencontres, chemins qui vont de l'avant pousser et ensuite revenir à des points, des pensées et des émotions qui ne trouvent pas leur origine dans le mouvement continu des choses. ENDLESS: sans fin la séquence des révélations et des mystères, tout en étant pris entre l'attente, la découverte, la destruction et l'illusion. (Extrait du livre "ARTE OGGI" (il nuovo, il banale, l'offensivo) de Francesco de Bartolomeis.

Dal 2002 Hofstetter lavora al ciclo ENDLESS, che finora (giugno 2006) si svolge in 20 pannelli (cm 140 x 80 ): una sorta di poema della vita frammentato nel tempo e nello spazio. Evocazioni, incanti, sogni, vivide aperture sulla natura e sul suo variare (Mare del Nord e Mediterraneo, laghi, vegetazione di luoghi diversi noti o sconosciuti, luce, nebbia), situazioni ostili e soste rassicuranti, solitudine e incontri, percorsi che si spingono avanti per poi tornare a punti che nel movimento continuo nel tempo di cose, di pensieri, di emozioni non ritrovano origini. ENDLESS: senza fine tanto il succedersi di rivelazioni e di misteri quanto l’ essere presi tra attese, vanificazioni e illusioni di ritrovamenti
