Influenced by the 1994 Monterey improvisational duet by Christian McBride and Ray Brown, my muse became the reverberating heartbeat of the jazz bass. I was inspired to create expressive gesture and movement through the use of brilliant color and line.

"Off the Cuff" will be exhibited April 18 – May 26, 2014 at Arts Center Killingworth’s NEW! Spectrum Fine Art Gallery and Artisans Store of Centerbrook, Connecticut. the exhibit opens with Jammin’, its inaugural show of fine art and crafts inspired by the world of jazz. The exhibit features the work of painter Michael Singletary and includes a select group of regional painters (including Gloria Nilsson), photographers and fine artisans. Spectrum Art Gallery Store, located at 61 Main Street, Centerbrook, CT 06409, will also include several of Gloria Nilsson's unique hand painted scarves and original jewelry designs featuring musical themes and decorative motifs. artists/gloria-nilsson/
