Nature Unleashed is a very large oil painting on canvas of an exuberant Sussex wildflower meadow featuring the South Downs, swallows and poppies. It is 72x48x1.5 inches. The style is semi-abstract and art nouveau and is very vibrant and colourful. It was inspired by walks taken in fields and woodlands around the South Downs in summer when the wildflowers are at their best and the poppies, in particular, stand out against the green grass and reeds. The scene shows an abundance of flowers in the foreground and trees and fields leading off into the distance behind them. Two barn swallows swoop over the flowers and you can see the patterns their motion makes. Swallows are birds you see often in Sussex and they are very much woven into the landscape of summer. The painting was made from memory using reference photos to add small details here and there. Memory painting tends to reflect how I felt about a place I have been to rather than ‘realistic’ details as such and I like this way of working. What I feel about an English Sussex summer is that it is beautiful and wild and I am happy I caught this feeling and in such a large canvas! The edges are dark green and it is ready to hang, no frame needed

Gill Bustamante, a contemporary British painter, is renowned for her distinctive artistry that breathes life into large semi-abstract oils on canvas, drawing inspiration from the wonders of nature. Specializing in creating expansive semi-abstract landscape, seascape, and wildlife paintings, Gill has carved out a unique style that seamlessly blends art-nouveau, impressionist, and semi-abstract techniques with a touch of traditional portraiture. Her artistic vision is deeply rooted in a profound love for nature, animals, birds, and the rich flora and fauna that grace the landscapes surrounding her.

Central to Gill's creative process is a method she terms 'memory impressionism.' This approach involves immersing herself in nature, going for walks to observe and absorb the essence of the landscapes, and then returning to her studio to translate those experiences onto canvas. The result is a collection of artworks that capture the echoes and essences of the places she explores, often including the wildlife encountered during her walks. This distinctive method allows Gill to convey the feelings and impressions she has about these locations, offering viewers a glimpse into the profound connection she shares with the natural world. Gill Bustamante's artistic focus extends to the ancient landscapes of England, and her paintings frequently reflect the spiritual elements inherent in such revered locales.
