Crew Deck #6
23.6x15.8x0.8 in ©2016 by Stella Blau. One of the landmarks of modernist architecture, Le Corbusiers Unité D'Habitation in Marseilles is influenced by the shapes of the ocean liner. Corbu was fascinated by them - and, despite the fact that todays cruise ships can hardly compete with their early 20th century counterparts in terms of quality of design, I am fascinated still. I stood there for hours, at the bow of the ship, looking out into the immensity of the ocean. It's this huge man made machine made of tons of steel in the midst of a world of blue, an endless horizon. - To capture this antagonism and the feelings resulting from it is the theme of this series of 8 paintings named "Crew Deck". If you would like to purchase the whole series as displayed on the additional view, please get in touch for special pricing.
