In Memoriam - Grant Fraser MacIver (30 August 1960 to 11 August 2019)

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of our dear friend Fraser who died on Sunday 11th August 2019 following a heart attack. Fraser will be sadly missed by all who loved him and his art.

Fraser lived a very unconventional life. The normal 9 to 5 lifestyle that so many of us find easy, for him was not. Fraser lived a solitary and down to earth existence with his beloved cat Fred, the subject of his 'Clairvoyant Cat' painting. A very talented, intelligent and well read man, Fraser could hold a conversation on any subject except technology which he found daunting.

As is evident by his beautiful artwork, nature and his surroundings were Fraser's passion.

Though Fraser lived alone in The Wagon at Crinan, he loved the company of others and was a wonderful welcoming host to anyone who wished to visit his home and studio. When in company, Fraser was the bright light that would capture one's attention. He was a larger than life, loving, vivid person whose presence is captured in his art. So versatile an artist was Fraser that he would switch from architectural and life drawing to expressionism and abstraction in his oils and watercolours delivering artwork to please a variety of audiences.

Fraser was a kind and honest man whose sudden death will leave a very big hole for his family and friends - indeed for all who knew him.
