STATEMENT

I was born in Salonta, a small lovely Romanian town. Currently, I live in Oradea, a town in the Transylvania region of Romania. I have graduated from the University of Visual Arts Oradea and I am a member of the Romanian Professional Artists Association, painting Department.

I take my inspiration out of nature, I am fascinated by the interaction of the four elements: fire, water, sky and earth. I am also interested in the intensity of the light at different times of the day, and its influence over the colors. The intensity of human emotions is another theme which has a lot of my attention. I try to filter all these through my personality and express them through various techniques, focusing on the chromatic aspects. My works are created in oil, acrylic or mixed media on canvas using both brush and “dripping” techniques. Depending on the theme of the composition, the pair of dripping and lines either confer a dynamic aspect or provide a calming atmosphere when the case. The theme is the deciding factor for the proportions of the different techniques. I also sometimes tend to use the directed fusion technique, usually delimiting the impacted areas by black embossed lines. Thus, this creates a stained glass-like effect.

The majority of my paintings are created in the abstract style with impressionist influences in regards to color and especially light. Sometimes the abstract elements are combined with figurative ones. When this is the case, the harmonization of stylistic contrasts is achieved through chromatics and technique. Feminine figures are sometimes represented in a realistic style, with focus on relaying the character’s emotion. Abstract elements and the “dripping” technique are not missing from the composition. Here, I would fall under postmodernism, using an older style in a modern context.
