« Fleuriste à Guernica » ne fait pas référence au drame historique lui-même, mais aux poses dramatiques prises par les personnages de la toile de Picasso. « Le Radeau de la Méduse » de Géricault aurait aussi fait l'affaire, sans aucun mépris pour les véritables naufragés de la Méduse historique.
Dans cette peinture d'Eric Bourdon plusieurs personnages sont en pleurs, non parce qu'ils sont bombardés, mais parce que leurs fleurs sont fanées. Heureusement, lueur d'optimisme absente du « Guernica » de Picasso, un fleuriste arrive avec des fleurs fraîches ! À l'arrière-plan, un avion bombarde la ville, mais là aussi avec des fleurs...

"Florist in Guernica" does not refer to the historical drama itself, but to dramatic poses such as those taken by the characters in Picasso's canvas. "The Raft of the Medusa" by Géricault would also have done the trick, without any contempt for the true castaways of the historic Medusa.
In this painting by Eric Bourdon many characters are in tears, not because they are being bombarded, but because their flowers are withered. Fortunately, a glimmer of optimism absent from Picasso's "Guernica", a florist arrives with fresh flowers ! In the background, a plane bombards the city, but there also with flowers...

Bourdon's works have in common vivid colors and unpremeditated pencil strokes, expressive of raw enthusiasm in the art brut or Outsider Art manner. In an era concerned with control, certainty, and security, Bourdon describes his artistic technique as spotlighting the creative richness of chance and accident.
Eric Bourdon was born in 1979, in Lille, France. His paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States, Belgium, England, and China. In addition, his art has been featured in publications such as La Voix du Nord, Var-Matin, JaamZIN Creative Magazine, etc.
