No worries, I managed to put the sculpture together myself so anyone can do it! It just takes a little time, patience and thoroughness. Put on your favorite music and get started (for me, assembling these sculptures is a great way to relax).

Eric lives between France and Argentina. He discovered papercraft in 2016, when he accidentally found a photo of an animal trophy on the web. Admired, he first wanted to know if he could make such a paper sculpture himself and it was on a specialized site that he bought his first pattern, an elephant head. Revelation “I loved the assembly phase. Quietly at home, with my favorite music, cutting, folding and pasting became a source of relaxation, a pastime coupled with entertainment. » The sculptures followed one another, each bringing its charge of emotion and, in an immutable way, immense satisfaction, with a touch of pride!

How do we move on from the phase “leisure” to the “production” phase?

At the beginning of 2017, after having built around ten sculptures, I asked myself if I could not create my own paper sculptures. I searched on the Internet, it seemed to be outside my skills, but I was motivated! So after getting to know several 3D design software, I learned how to transform a three-dimensional object into a two-dimensional pattern... Ecogami was starting and a few months later, I launched my own dedicated site EcogamiShop.

< p>Why the name Ecogami?

“Eco” comes from “Ecology” and “gami” comes from the word “Origami” which is another paper art. I liked the word as a whole, “Ecogami”, so I adopted it!

What is your style of creation? Why are you so attracted to animal sculptures? I have always loved nature and animals. When I was a child, my mother bought me the magazine “Nature” which I always read in its entirety. I admit that at the time, I didn't always understand the more scientific articles but their superb photos of animals fascinated me. Today, I live in the city but my roots are still in the countryside. This is why most of my creations represent animals. I feel concerned by current issues such as climate change and the decline of biodiversity. Representing animals is therefore a kind of homage. It’s also a universal theme that appeals to many people. My grandparents had deer trophies in their living room. They impressed me even if I also looked at them with sadness. It was another time, today, I am proud to offer a substitute without any animal being killed.
