Equip Quart is formed by Balbino Sastre and Jesús Gómez. Both first studied as artistic experts at the Manises School of Ceramics, and a few years later graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Valencia, Spain, finishing in 1990, with a specialty in drawing.  It would be in 1988, while still at university, when they created Equip Quart, as a joint artistic project. Join teamwork has not been uncommon in the Valencian art scene since the 1960s: Estampa Popular, Equipo Crónica, or Equipo Realidad, just as it was not among the painters of the eighties: Costus, formed by Enrique Naya and Juan Carrero, was a paradigmatic example of common work.

Although they cannot be characterized as having had an excessively abundant production, three periods can be distinguished in their trajectory: at first, their work has a certain conceptual character where the sculpture becomes a support for images. An example of this can be seen in Negami al Art Noc, a revealing title if you read it backwards, consisting of a map of Spain made up of pieces made from cassette tapes with which the Virgin face of the Forsaken is traced. During this period they participated in the 111th Biennial of Sculpture Villa de Paterna (1989), in the 13th Biennial of Painting in Paterna (1990), in the 4th Villa de Massamagrell Sculpture Biennial (1991), at the IV Villa de Mislata Painting Biennial (1992). In 1991 they won the acquisition of the work they presented at the IV Biennial of SculptureVilla of Paterna

In 1992, he began to work as a teacher of plastic arts in various institutes in Teruel, until they established their residence in Alcañiz. Painting is now the main feature of the second stage. These paintings are linked to the Valencian realist school that emerged in the sixties and with the new approach tothe representation of reality that it entailed. In some of them, Equip Quart makes a personal appropriation of the history of art. Eidos", which means "image" in Greek, is inspiredin the sculptures from the Fascist period in the Olympic Stadium in Rome, in a deep counterpoint. During this stage they will participate in collective exhibitions of contemporary art from Teruel such as Inútil (2003), with Atracción inútil, where the tensions of desire are reflected in a space of backlight and shadow; and Rarum (2004), with Nature Within, in which the self-portrait becomes a tribute to Millet's Angelus, in an atmosphere of certain oneirism, close to some surrealist painters

At this stage, Equip Quart is deepening its reflection on the image and itsreflections. In the series Symmetry, we find confronted specular images, where the Real or fictitious symmetry makes for an attractive game of truth and appearance.
