Dans ce projet photographique intitulé « ...from portrait to self-portrait...

After having carried out studies of art, I decided to completely leave my training in art in the year 2000.
What I humanly awaited from my meetings and the need to build me in my studies was not there. What I was to create did not have any direction. My creations did not have any utility, I did not take any pleasure and my clearness enabled me to agree to understand that my place was not there. I thus decided to leave this world, to see to even flee it, without will to go back a day there.
I turned then to a course university course in ethnology which offered a new vision of the world to me. And for 7 years, I have practiced an occupation in very another field which is that of the care and more precisely of the addictions. A trade leading me to intervene in prison medium and in good of other fields where where the human one is prevalent.
My university course and professional brought me finally what I searched. I discovered the beauty through the wounds, of the imperfections, the faults, the abrasions, the phantoms of the past and the scars. I thus decided to turn over gradually towards this world.
I discovered finally this pleasure of carrying out creations identical so that I had become and so that I would undoubtedly become. Even if at the bottom this goal is probably never reached.
At the bottom it is egoistic, my fabrics speak very about me, my childhood, my memories, my loves, what I am, of what I live with the daily newspaper in my trade, of my past and my future. They are like me and my meetings, disorganized and full with imperfections. They are torn, assembled, coloured, torn off or scribbled. They are full with words, they are not precise, they are not patient and they are never finished.
They evoke my desires, my desires, my memories, my hopes, my questions. Tears and the scars ; the suffering but much more resistance, the résiliance and l do not express; history of each one. The suffering as the melancholy are beautiful moments in my eyes.
The suffering as the melancholy are beautiful moments in my eyes. My fabrics accumulate ideas and at the bottom are never finished. They are constantly in evolution; under each fabric carried out there is undoubtedly ten; other ideas.
is for that which I remain on idea that my fabrics are as a wall on which I can allow all to change….to add, remove or delete as long as I am not satisfied.

I have moved to a brand new 2,000 suare foot art studio and gallery. It is well lit with natural light and I am very excited about the move.
It is located at 6532 Spring Brook Road, Rockford, IL 61114, USA.
I will hold my first watercolor painting workshop there this 2nd and 3rd of November 2013.
I will be participating in Rockford, IL's Art Scene this coming October 4th and 5th at Mendelsshon Club's Emerson House at 406 N. Main St. This
event is sponsored by the Rockford Area Arts Council and is presented in the spring and fall of each year.

My paintings capture the intensity and the very essence of my relationship to art. Floral images, from earliest childhood, have always remained the lynchpin that would lead me to further explorations for my artistic expressions.
I have seriously attempted other avenues of expression, such as portraits and abstract painting, but personal satisfaction has always eluded me.
Even in painting landscapes, a floral image may crop up here or there and often overtake it to become a floral landscape or a floral garden landscape. Still life suffers the same fate.
The raison d’etre for my floral and landscape paintings can be traced directly to the influences that surrounded my early childhood. Born and raised in a small town in Austria near forests, glens and mountains, I was constantly seeking out the many varied kinds of floral beauty which is ever present in this land. During the summer months, in a high mountain lake enclosure, my siblings and I would make daylong forays into the forested areas solely to see what kinds of flowers we could encounter. A difficult find, but a most sought after one, was the edelweiss. This was so because one had to climb up the side of a mountain to see them growing as an outcropping in the rocks. This would become the trophy of the day! Another favored sight was the Christrose, commonly called the Schneerose or snow rose, because it could be seen popping up out of the snow cover on the ground.
In school I was always fascinated with any instrument be it pen, pencil or crayon, that could make anything from a strait line to a complicated image. I really never understood at the time why I had this strong attraction for art supplies, never could make the connection between it and my love of nature.
It wasn’t until I came to the United States and married that the association was made. A casual remark by my husband, that I had a natural talent and propensity to draw and paint, made me realize that I ought to get going. A starter paint kit was purchased and that’s the beginning of the story.
"For me a picture . . . . should be something likable, joyous
and pretty - yes, pretty. There are enough ugly things in life
for us not to add to them."
Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 1910
"Beauty is - this is another no-no. For a long time now we've been told that if it's beautiful, it must be bad. It must be corny, it must be no good. I think that's a fashion issue. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't care about it. You know, beauty happens sometimes, and if so, I'm going to go with it.
. . . . . . I'm not going to paint an ugly painting to get applause."
Janet Fish, 1999
