I studied Fine Arts in Manila and had my first solo exhibition in 1989, that consisted of large paintings in lyrical abstraction using bold colors of acrylic. In 1991, I did experimental paintings by applying textures using glue in circular and amorphous shapes including puncturing holes or slashing canvases. Some of my paintings were constructed on square canvases attached with small square dais on the surface and were executed in white and gray acrylic colors with X-strokes that symbolize my Christian belief. In 2000, I preoccupied myself doing oil paintings on small-scale canvases that were primed in black and at that moment I delved into astrology symbols as an attempt to expound on the mystifying universe. Recently, I started employing textural effects by applying resin on the canvas and crafted it into fishing nets and bamboo poles that identifies the tools used by fishermen and a statement on the significance of water to humans. I also took fancy of painting on miniature clay jars by emphasizing the natural form of it and its very challenging roundness of its contour. At present, I am full of activity in compiling paintings portfolio for my upcoming exhibitions.
