DOSE® #DIVERSITY
When it comes to diversity and equality, the starting point is the same: the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, according to which men are all equal, that is, they all have the same rights. The right to life, to health, to respect, to the freedom to fulfill themselves according to their wishes, to express their opinions, to choose their religion: all are essential rights not subject to differences.
In essence, they cannot be questioned.
If these are the basic principles, however, it must also be said that the uniqueness of the individual, in daily practice, must be respected.
Being the same doesn't mean looking alike, thinking, talking, dressing up, all behaving the same way.
It can be said, in a certain sense, that exercising one's individuality - and therefore one's uniqueness with respect to others - is a right like any other.
Often, however, in everyday life, diversity is not considered a wealth, but a form of inferiority. Being different means being inadequate, unsuitable, unhappy, even. And the different often becomes an enemy.
On the other hand, it makes sense to look at things from a double perspective: if others are different in our eyes, we are different in the eyes of others.
One can be so for physical appearance, character, ability and talent - and these are purely personal factors - but also and above all for social stratum, economic conditions and opportunities. All tangible factors of diversity, which must be recognized and understood so that equality of law can be pursued even and above all in these cases. To do this, it is necessary to avoid treating identically people who in reality are not, but to reserve an appropriate treatment for the conditions of each, taking into account the real differences between people.
