Dominique Gais is a painter with a travelling soul, for a long time her painting equipment followed her everywhere according to the needs of the building sites and projects. Today, lighter, she moves around, the camera at hand, ready to capture the beauty of this world. The infinite variations of nature are the source of his inspiration and the support of his creation. And like nature sometimes, its figuration is at the limit of abstraction.
It is in the studio that photographic fragments and pictorial touches merge and merge. There she builds new spaces on canvas and paper, playing with perspectives, proportions and materials, in a constant comings and goings between reality and imagination. The immediacy of photography associated with the timelessness of the painter's gesture enriches his creation with a fertile tension.

Dominique is an artist who strives to compose her paintings with a pictorial quality that is equalled only by her attachment to representing complex textures. In this series, her paintings are organized around a concept where an image is previously affixed to her canvas. Then, she began a painting process that allowed her to eliminate the difference between the image and the painted surface. Depending on his works and with hindsight, we have the feeling of observing landscapes and the next moment we see something completely different. The gaze comes to play tricks on us and seeks familiar forms to cling to a more concrete, more tangible subject. An atypical artistic approach and a long-term vision of painting for this artist who is committed above all to the path of expression before thinking about the commercial path. In other words, a rare and passionate artist.
