Daniel Jose Ramos Vieira, born and grow up in 1937 in village Alte, in Algarve (south of Portugal). In that village, many neighbours and cousins were singing or playing intruments. Also sounds of the church-bells, hammers of boilermakers, singing of seamstresses stayed for long in musical memory of Daniel. Because of the influence of his father – musican, writer, poet and painter - young Daniel started to study painting.

With 20 years he moved to Lisbon and studied decorativ painting in Antonio Arroio School in Lisbon. In years 1961-62 he frequented and belongs to Cooperation of Portuguese Graphic Artists, learning by professor: João Hogan, Alice Jorge e Cármen Garcia. Later 1962-1975 studies in Lisbon Academy of Fine Arts painting, drawing and graphic art (litography) by masters Teixeira Lopes e Matilde Marçal.
In 1994 in his village Alte, he founded “The Garden of Arts- center of Arts and Culture”.
A project, that envolves music, art, theater, film and research for tradicional music in different regions.
Daniel participated and co-created some folclore groups like Almanaque and Erva Doce singing and playing bandolin and cavaquinho.
Since 1958 his graphic works participated many exhibitions in and out of Portugal, in Lisbon (Sociedade Nacional Belas Artes, 1974), Porto, Madeira, France, Spain, Russia, Brasil, Morocco, Angola, Mosambic, Strasburg.. and others. His works are represented in several museums and private collections, national and foreign. He was honoured with many awards in graphic art. Beetween many others in 2005 honoured by Council Loule with Silver Medalie for work of his life. During 40 years teaches in few diferent schools in Portugal, teaches art, design, visual comunication, and art history.
Daniel, apasionate for studying and experimenting, with age of 74 years, starts in 2011 studies of Painting in new technologies on Academy of Fine Art in Lisbon. Now is about to finish his master degree in Sound Art in subject of folclore music and electronic music.
He continues to draw and paint, using also a new media, like.. an old copy-machine, graphic computer programs, transforming fotographs and paintings with some efects, he still search and discovers.
You may believe or not, but beside that, Daniel dances every few days in some forró (brasilian dance) meetings, and sings in Choral de Achada. Daniel divides his life between Lisbon, with his musical night-life and friends, and calm village Alte, with his family and “Garden of Arts”, where during the summer he creates and leads workshops of graphic.

The recent exhibition in Duetos da Sé (december 2016 - january 2017) is a hommage for musicans of his country, country that he travelled with recording machine in a hand, collecting an old tradicional songs, and he had a pleasure to listen, sing and dance to their music.
