Hello, I am Daniel Tardif and however far I remember I always drew. For more than 50 years, as an autodidact, I explored different medium and technique such as acrylic, oil, watercolor, soft and oil pastel, collage, lithography and mosaic.
During the same time as I produced, I studied social anthropology, philosophy and law. I thus led several activities frontally but never I stopped drawing and painting

I also travelled worldwide, from USA to Asia via Europe, North Africa and Central America.

I am to the point where it is important from now to produce in an exclusive way paintings and mosaics.
Born in Montreal of a normal family, I remember myself very early the proven taste of the refuge in the drawing. It is later that I realized the safety(salute) of my soul passing necessarily by the imagination and/or the creativity - or in the flight(leak) of.

I studied in particular the lithography supervised by Nicole Malenfant in the 80s in Quebec. And I put a lot into the management of the live painting workshops realized in public in Quebec. This period of 1980-1986 was one of founding bases of my self-taught learning(apprenticeship).

Especially, I have never stopped producing.

The discovery of the mosaic was made 5 years ago, at first in Montreal then in Ravenna in Italy.

In the practice of my art, I favor the abstract and/or representational forms by siding with the gesture(movement) to the detriment of the thought: I draw, paints the way i feel, dreads or collects and not what my brain tries to dictate me, and with him all the casting off of media influence which has interest only for the control of the heard(understood) speeches advertising executive making childish the mass, or in the illusion of.
Avoiding styles or recipes, while establishing my own signature, I draw in all directions.

The art is a ceaseless do-it-yourself which corresponds to the revision of the elements which make up us, us and the world, such as received by the Artist, the whole in an attempt in Sysiphe of esthetic repositioning, it from eternal questions that reminds us the paintings of Gauguin: who are we, where do we come from, where we do go?

The practice of the art represents the realization of the energy which lives in us, transports us, moves us and lets us crash on the ground, effect of gravity, when it flees us. Vibration, obstinacy, relation with the indirect, with the invisible, unconscious otherness, in what acts to and in spite of us. Unpredictable slips of the tongue, fluids impossible to contain. Everything has to eventually take(go,bring) out, or not go out, and the language does not reveal everything. The Art can and should. That is the mission.
