Family history, and especially women's history...that of my grandmother in Venezuela who not only taught me the gesture, but also passed on to me the love of fibers.

These gestures reproduced, repeated and sometimes even improvised to create new textures, convey memory and become almost meditative, allowing us to ignore the passing of time, while keeping it locked into the worked frame.

In my work I use various techniques such as crochet, weaving, embroidery, knitting, sewing, macramé. My pieces are a mixture of threads and rags that I tear, knot, wind, fold, twist, sew...

The incorporation of unexpected materials seeks less to create surprise than to awaken a emotion.

I find my inspiration in nature, that of my country of birth, so varied and generous: the Amazon forest, the depths of the Caribbean Sea; but also the one that I had the chance to discover through my travels.

On the other hand, the dynamics of human relations, in particular those linked to the condition of women in modern society, is a another aspect that I approach in my work with a critical eye. Work with fibers, historically carried out by women and associated with their living conditions, becomes a powerful symbol with the aim of highlighting the female situation.

By crossing the border of the two-dimensionality of traditional weaving I offer my work a third dimension which allows it to become textile sculpture.
