The glitter of the sea under the sun, the blue shades of the currents offshore, it is all of Brittany, its colors and its maritime heritage that is shown in the paintings of Christian Biard. The spectator's eye rediscovers the sensations of a walker or navigator facing the sea: dazzle, infinity, calm or storm...
The painter's work reflects his passion and his knowledge of the sea, which is reflected in works that are sometimes sensitive, sometimes scientific.

Part of his work translates on the canvas "impressions" experienced during his excursions on the coast and at sea, in the classic form of the landscape or with more surprising framings where the horizon disappears and the subject becomes almost abstract.

The painter is also illustrated in the academic "seascapes", portraits of old current or disappeared riggings, reconstructions of scenes typical of a region and an era, which require a sense of technical detail and an in-depth study of the documents of archives, in order to restore with truth the characteristic elements of the subject. By his representations of the lighthouses, the painter is finally part of the tradition of the painters of the sea.

The techniques used are varied: oil painting, graphite, charcoal... If the painter seeks the delicacy of the line and the detail, for his classic portraits of boats or lighthouses, his most personal works open the way to experimentation; the impasto of matter suggests the unleashed elements, the line blurs to reflect the reflections on the water...

Christian Biard is a French artist. he lives and works in Betton in Brittany (France). Pupil of the painter and sculptor François Méheut. He is an Academician of the Académie del Verbano - arts, sciences and letters - arts section "Gréci-Marino International Academy" and also Member of Poets and Artists of France.
