Her paintings reveal a powerful sensation. Almost unexplainable. Her portraits personify all the spirituality of the various cultures and traditions from the whole the world. Discreet, almost tranquil, they illuminate through clairs-obscurs. Cheerful and warming, they unveil the attitudes and faces of Native Americans, Africans, Asians, Europeans. Through the series "Peoples' portraits" and "Looks of the world", Christelle Ottaviano paints men' and women' most profound expressions. The strength and the intensity of her paintings are focused on the look in their eyes. As she declares: "It is the convergence of all my attentions, it is the starting point of all my works. By giving a soul to those representations, which tend to bring back the people to life, I invite everyone's eye and heart [...] The purpose of a painting isn't its beauty but what it shakes, reveals and awakes deep inside us."
Welcome in the heart of human beings, with a feeling like an invitation to an interior journey, serene and pleasant.
Christelle Ottaviano has participated to over 50 exhibitions in France and abroad.
