Dashavatara (IAST: Daśāvatāra) refers to the ten major incarnations of Vishnu, the Hindu God of universal preservation. Etymologically, dashavatara (Sanskrit: अवतार), derives from daśa, meaning 'ten' and avatāra, meaning 'descent'. The God Vishnu incarnates on Earth from time to time to eradicate the evil forces, to restore the Dharma and to liberate the worthy ones or devotees from cycle of births and deaths. The avatars in this list are also described as lila-avatars.
Vamana, the dwarf, appeared in the Treta Yuga. The fourth descendant of Hiranyakashyap, Bali, with devotion and penance was able to defeat Indra, the god of firmament. This humbled the other deities and extended his authority over the three worlds. The gods appealed to Vishnu for protection and he descended as the dwarf Vamana. During a yagna of the king, Vamana approached him in the midst of other Brahmins. Bali was happy to see the diminutive holy man, and promised whatever he asked. Vamana asked for three paces of land. Bali agreed, and the dwarf then changed his size to that of a giant. He stepped over heaven in his first stride, the netherworld with the second. Bali realized that Vamana was Vishnu incarnate. In deference, the king offered his head as the third place for Vamana to place his foot. The avatar did so and thus granted Bali immortality. Then in appreciation to Bali and his grandfather Prahlad, Vamana made him ruler of Pathala, the netherworld. Bali is believed to have ruled Kerala and Tulunadu. He is still worshiped there as the king of prosperity and recalled before the time of harvest.

My work has a strong aesthetic aspect of human and animal body. The Evolution of skeletal structure, the muscle attachment and the action every muscle is designed for is a wonderful creation of the nature. Anatomy has always been my favourite subject. During my doctorial study I constantly experimented with creating the anatomy of human body in the various art forms. I believe nothing can make an impact on human mind in the way the human body makes! All primary instincts such as bliss, happiness, sexual desire, fight instinct, fear of dead, agony & pain looking at a dead can take away your heart to the emotional depths.
Hence I started exploring the subjects in Mythology, History, Science and Contemporary Issues in the society to find inspiration to create my own expression of human body. My works express the idea of human or animal body in an abstract manner. You may term it as “Abstract Figurative Style”!
