Déjà sous le rouleau compresseur comme le poids écrasant de ces vents extrêmement forts et de la pluie fondante venant de la mer, vous pouvez ajouter la vue imaginaire et terrifiante du raz-de-marée géant qui se précipitait sur vous et tout ce que vous pouviez faire était de rester collé à l'endroit[...]

Déjà sous le rouleau compresseur comme le poids écrasant de ces vents extrêmement forts et de la pluie fondante venant de la mer, vous pouvez ajouter la vue imaginaire et terrifiante du raz-de-marée géant qui se précipitait sur vous et tout ce que vous pouviez faire était de rester collé à l'endroit où vous vous trouviez. Voilà une époque où j'étais adolescent et à un âge où l'on est très impressionné par une catastrophe naturelle d'une telle ampleur, mais pas vraiment par la destruction.
Dans la même manière je ne cesse de regarder en arrière quand j'étais adolescente et à cette époque nous vivions bien loin à l’intérieur dans les terres alors que la mer était loin et que tous les réseaux de nouvelles parlaient de catastrophe qui vient de se passer quand un raz-de-marée géant similaire s'est écrasé sur la côte face à la mer. Même si je n’étais pas un témoin oculaire de tout cela, c’était d’écouter toutes ces histoires horribles racontées par ceux qui étaient allés là-bas immédiatement après le désastre pour apporter une aide humanitaire aux populations des régions touchées et qui avaient constaté les tristes résultats de la catastrophe. Le désastre m'a laissé une telle impression que de nombreuses années plus tard ce mémoire a pris la forme d'une série de tirages tirés à la main en édition limitée à 6 exemplaires utilisant la méthode des nouveaux médias, couleurs simultanées.

Richard Raveen Chester is a multifaceted artist. He developed a new form of printing using a digital technique and superimposing layers on heavy art paper. He specializes in contemporary simultaneous and continuous color printing. The artist reworks the print after the marouflage transfer onto heavy art paper to achieve the artistic effect.
His work is mainly inspired by his walks in the countryside and the sensations or feelings he experiences while doing them, and which he tries to share with the spectators of his works.
Richard Raveen Chester was born in 1954 in India. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication from Delhi University School of Art in 1976. He currently lives and works in Angers (France).
