Alexander Cheglakov is a contemporary Russian sculptor. Woodworking is a long-standing hobby of Alexander Cheglakov, and he enjoys creating amazing and exotic hand-carved functional artworks from centuries-old, fallen and dry trees.
In working with wood, he uses a unique blend of materials: dried, environmentally friendly wood, California corals, fragments of antique stained glass, pieces of Sicilian glassware processed by the sea, rock crystal, bronze animal figures and candles combine to radiate an atmosphere of warmth. The emotional nature and originality of each work reveal the versatility and raw talent of the artist. Cheglakov carves each work to highlight its individual and unique character; a testament to the beauty found in nature.
