I am a graphic designer, letter painter and teacher of applied arts. I place myself in the current of abstraction.
As a medium, I use plaster molding, covered with black satin paint. I had the idea to mold the structure of the green cabbage leaves. Thanks to them and the variations of light on the monochrome, dark and tortured coating, I can create endless texture games. It is a surface that seems raw but yet very elaborate. The result is a surface that evokes a landscape of lava, of things that mingle and that incites touch. I intend to produce a long series, but I also plan to experiment with other elements to be molded.
I called this series of works "Crucifer", inspired by the old name of cabbage and at the same time provocative in the ear. These works evoke a certain disorder, it is the irreversible chaos of our time, of which I find it difficult to adhere. I see in it the end of a world, an apocalypse, the realism of what awaits it with its darkness and its pessimism. Sometimes a few touches of sterile optimism appear thanks to the laying of gold leaf. In general I do not use colors other than black, it is sufficient with these surfaces. I flee the multicolored effects, the symbols embodied by certain forms of support sometimes falling into an ease well suited for this media-society.
This gloomy vision is also a personal assessment which, despite appearances, is still turned towards optimism. The end of a cycle to invent another.
