INSTALLATION of 6 pieces on a base: 2m by 2.50m wingspan Weight of the parts: 6kg, 5.5kg, 3.6kg, 4kg ... Base each: 12kg. The price of delivery is to be determined by country. I appreciated in 2019 that commemorations on "La Retirada" are organized, among others, in the department of Aude. But I found that there was no connection with today's exile. I regretted that the opportunity to enrich the meaning, in a logic of continuity, was not made. It is from this reflection that I created an installation entitled PASSAGE-PASSAGES or LA PERMANENCE DE L'EXIL The singular for non-return and the plural to translate historical permanence. From slate which cover the roofs of some houses in the Montagne Noire, I made 6 assemblies of walls pierced with passages in front of which congregate characters, frozen in their history, prisoners of an elsewhere that they do not have. 'have not chosen, but also carry, the story of a humanity built by the uninterrupted circulation of women and men. These 5 pieces are arranged in a semicircle around a sixth consisting of the word NO becoming ON according to the direction of the reading thus underlining the constant paradox between reception and rejection. With this word, a rower navigates between his two exits that he does not control, while expressing perseverance. This installation is also a tribute "To dreamers of improbable Eldorados ..."

Bernard Lapeña is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, author and assembler whose writing is central to his work.

For 25 years, his work has told stories of lives, through scenes experienced or seen, words heard, fragments of news but also drawn from the imagination. He uses several techniques, in addition to photography, he uses collage from images and words from magazines, re-photographed and printed, but also assemblages presented as paintings, including various objects in small boxes, very often adding my photographs and his texts. Some are also declined in three dimensions and displayed on pedestals.

Bernard Lapeña lives and works in Carcassonne / Montlegun in the south of France. His work is present in many private collections.
