Acrylic on canvas panel, unframed. February, 2007.
"Pandora had repeatedly fancied that sounds like whispers issued from the box. The noise now seemed to increase, and she breathlessly applied her ear to the lid to ascertain whether it really proceeded from within. Imagine, therefore, her surprise when she distinctly heard these words, uttered in the most pitiful accents: " Pandora, dear Pandora, have pity upon us ! Free us from this gloomy prison! Open, open, we beseech you!"
Pandora's heart beat so fast and loud, that it seemed for a moment to drown all other sounds. Should she open the box ?

Mythological Goddess Art of Emily Balivet. Inspired by nature, the Pre-Raphaelites, Mythology (esp. Celtic folklore and Arthurian legend). Mainly, I just allow art to happen, as it has a life of it's own. My creations are directed by my muse and often reflect the divine balance of the light and darker aspects of my emotional being. In that way, art has been the ultimate window into my own subconscious.
I have been designing and selling my work worldwide for over 15 years. Raised in Alaska, I was born and presently reside in Vermont where my primary artistic focus is on my fantastical and mythological paintings I call GODDESS ART. Now a mother of two young daughters, I occasionally shift my artistic talents to create clothing, natural wooden toys, and damn near anything possible to make by hand.
